I have lived in and around Cambridgeshire for the vast majority of my life, growing up in Norfolk, before moving to just outside Cambridge after university and then into Ely nearly twenty years ago. As a lover of mountains and a keen climber, I always used to believe The Fens were boring, lacking the mountains I longed for. As I moved into ultra running and spent many hours per week running the trails in and around Ely, I grew to appreciate it more..
Fast forward to the last few years and as I seriously back into photography, I felt there was a story to be told about the Fens, particularly about the changes in the landscape and farming practices over the years and the marks we (humans) have left on the landscape.
This project is an evolving beast and I am not sure yet where it will end but for now, here are some of my favourite recent images from my running and cycling explorations around Ely with my camera.
